AYRSHIRE FOURBALL CHAMPIONSHIP - Three clubs through to quarter finals as second round matches are completed.

All the second round matches in the 2017 Ayrshire Fourball Championship have now been completed, whilst three clubs have already progressed further, into the quarter finals.

In the second round ties, which were all due to be played by 28th May, Gordon & Iain McKenzie (Annanhill) won by 3 & 2 away from home against Steven Wells & Gordon Storar (Irvine) and now face Robert Martin & Andrew McMoreland (Ayr Carrick) who beat Scott & Martin Cairns (Kilbirnie Place) to progress.

David Addison & Philip Rooney (Rowallan Castle) won through at the expense of Lee & Robert McGukin (Doon Valley) and will be at home in round three against Archie McKie and Archie McKie (Irvine Ravenspark) who beat Graeme Kerr & Gerry Reid (Alton)  to progress.

John McBean  and Andrew Brown (Ayr Belleisle) beat Drew McCutcheon & Colin Pettigrew (Drongan) at the 19th and will be at home to Seamus Connor & Stuart Horsburgh (Malletsheugh) in round 3.

John McNair & Stephen Miller (Ballochmyle), who received a walkover against Adam Porter & Neil Stevenson (Ardeer), will be at home in round three to Kevin & Andy McConnell (Crosshouse) after that pairing had a 3 & 2 away win over JohnToal and Kevin Campbell (Glacier) in round two.

Alan  Pole and Martin Cairns (Prestwick St Nicholas) beat Tony Storrie and Robbie O'Brien (Ayr Seafield) by 6 & 5 in the second round but were defeated at the next stage, away from home, by Graham Anderson and Graham Todd (Skelmorlie), who went into the last eight of the competition.

Ian Smith and Steven Miller (Troon Welbeck) have a home match against Robert Liddell & William Smith (Caprington) in round three, following a one hole home win over Hugh Fyfe and Bobby Hill (Muirkirk) in round two.

In the lower part of the draw, James Ross & Billy Whitten (Kilmarnock Barassie) will play host to Graeme Warnock & Craig Barr (N B Parkstone) in the quarter finals.

In the second round, the Kilmarnock Barassie pair beat Douglas McCormick & Jamie McCrindle (Brunston Castle) by 2 & 1, but when the tie between Steven Roarty & Paul Arnott (Prestwick St Cuthbert) and Willma Loughran & Kevin Rowe (Largs Routenburn) was not completed by the due date, the Kilmarnock Barassie pair progressed further.

Likewise the N B Parkstone representatives had a walkover against Tom McClements and John Mansfield (Troon Merchants) to progress to round two and when the tie between Robert Stewart & Tony Kelly (Moorpark) and Sean Hedger and Brendan Tumilty (West Kilbride) went unplayed, the N B Parksone went on into the quarter finals.
