Stirling students Jack McDonald, a member of the Kilmarnock Barassie club, and Hannah McCook (Grantown on Spey), won the respective men's and women's categories in the Scottish universities golf competiton at Fairmont St Andrews (at the weekend).

SGU Golfer of the Year McDonald, pictured above, shot rounds of 70, 73 and 72 for a total of 215 over the Torrance (first and third rounds) and Kittocks (second round) courses.

A measure of the quality of McDonald's golf is the fact that his aggregate was six under the combined CSS totals of 73-72-76.
He won by one shot from Stirling team-mate Zander Culverwell with Scottish boys match-play champion Craig Howie, also a Stirling student, from Peelbes third on 218.

Hannah McCook, pictured left, whose family home is at Nethy Bridge, hit top form with an opening round of 70 at the Torrance Course before adding 38 for nine holes at the Kirrocks venue (bad light ruled out a full round) and 75 for a return trip over Torrance.
McCook's total of 183 saw her win by nine shots from Welsh international Gemma Bradbury (St Andrews) with Gabrielle Macdonald (St Andrews), a Craigielaw GC member, third on 194 and full Scotland international Eilidh Briggs (Stirling), a member at Kilmacolm, fourth on 195.
