AYRSHIRE JUNIOR GOLF LEAGUE - Championship latest

The competition in the four sections of the 2010 Ayrshire Junior Golf League are nearing completion with all matches due to be played by 31st July.

SECTION A is led by Annanhill on 16 points from 4 games played, with Troon Welbeck on 10 points after 5 completed ties. With Troon St Meddans on 4 points from 4 matches and Prestwick St Nicholas, with 2 points from 3 matches, the other teams in the section cannot catch the leaders, leaving Annahill going through to the semi finals from the section.

In SECTION B all matches have been completed with Kilmarnock (Barassie) claiming the semi final place with 14 points, ahead of  Defending Champions West Kilbride on 10 points and Irvine Ravenspark.

Ayr Belleisle lead SECTION C with 8 points from 3 matches played, ahead of largs who have 4 points from 2 matches and Irvine who have 4 points from 3 matches played.

Recent games saw Ayr Belleisle lose by 2.5 - 3.5 at home to Irvine but recover in the return match to record a 4 - 2 win away from home. Largs gained their first points of the season with a 4.5 - 1.5 home win over Irvine.

With two games in the section remaining to be played, Largs face trips to both Belleisle and Irvine, with all three clubs still in with a chance to go through to the semi finals.

In SECTION D, Ardeer have all but secured their place in the semi finals after a 4 - 2 home win over Ballochmyle in their penultimate match moved them to 16 points from 5 games played.

Prestwick St. Cuthbert are on 12 points after completing their matches whilst Loudoun have 8 points with two matches remaining, after a 3.5 - 2.5 home win over Ballochmyle, and Ballochmyle have 4 points from 5 games.

To stop Ardeer qualifying for the semi finals Loudoun will require to win their remaining two matches, at home to Ardeer and away at Ballochmyle, and overturn a 12 point difference over the two ties.

The semi final draws will be made in early August with the ties being played on a home and away basis in August. The final is scheduled to take place at Largs in September.
