AYRSHIRE GOLF ASSOCIATION - Revised constitution proposed at AGM

The Annual General Meeting of the Ayrshire Golf Association will be held in Caprington Golf Club, Ayr Road, Kilmarnock, on Wednesday October 28th 2009 at 7.00pm.

At the AGM, approval is being sought from member clubs for a revised Constitution for The Association. The present constitution has not been updated since 1988.

It would be desirable if all member clubs could be represented by one or two appointed representatives at the Annual General Meeting. One representative will be permitted to vote on behalf of the club.

One of the proposals in the new constitution is to increase the number of ordinary members on The Executive from 9 to 15. It s felt that this is required to fulfill the increasing responsibilities of The Association.

In this respect, clubs have been requested to consider nominating individuals for vacant posts on The Executive. Under the proposed constitution, Nominees must be proposed and seconded by members of clubs affilliated to the Ayrshire Golf Association.

The work of The Association Executive is varied and encompasses, amongst other things, Competitions, Course rating, handicapping, team administration at all age groups, rules and working with the National body and local agencies in the promotion of golf in the county.

All nominations for Executive posts require to be in the hands of the Ayrshire Golf Association President, in writing, by 27th September 2009 at the latest, to allow for inclusion in the Agenda for the AGM.

Anyone who is a member of a club affilliated to The Ayrshire Golf Association and is interested in becoming involved in the work of The Association is encouraged to consider standing for election to The Executive at the AGM. This is bet approached through discussion with the parent club.
