DOC THOM AYRSHIRE ORDER OF MERIT - Harvey Broadfoot secures title in final day showdown

Harvey Broadfoot (Troon Welbeck) is the 2024 winner of the Doc Thom Salver and Ayrshire Order of Merit title after a final day showdown with Ayrshire Strokeplay Champion Gavin Chesney (Kilbirnie Place) in the last qualifying event of the 2024 season, the rescheduled Ballochmyle Rosebowl, played on Saturday the 5th of October.

Craig Hamilton (Ballochmyle) and Harvey McDonald (Turnberry) shared top points on the day with scratch scores of 67 but crucially Harvey Broadfoot's score of 70, matched by Tom Loy (Ballochmyle) gave him sufficient points overall to edge ahead of Gavin Chesney, who scored 72 to share seventh place with three other players, but which left him agonisingly less than five points behind Broadfoot in the overall Order of Merit table.

Craig Hamilton's performance moved him up to third place overall in the Order of Merit, just ahead of Harvey McDonald.

The 2024 Doc Thom Salver win, following his Junior Order of merit title win in 2021, makes Harvey Broadfoot the fourth player to win both the Junior and Men's Ayrshire Order of Merit titles, alongside Steven McEwan (2004 & 2022), John Shanks (2006 & 2014/2015), and David Wilson (2011 & 2012).

Harvey & Jack Broadfoot

Harvey Broadfoot's title win created a unique achievement of both the 2024 Junior and Men's Ayrshire Order of Merit titles lying with the same household, following younger brother Jack Broadfoot's win in the Ayrshire Junior Order of Merit earlier this month.

The final placings in the 2024 Ayrshire Order of Merit, for the Doc Thom Salver, are:-
