WEST OF SCOTLAND INTER COUNTY LEAGUES - Ayrshire complete 2022 campaign with an A Team win and a Youths Team defeat

Ayrshire completed their 2022 West of Scotland Inter County League campaigns on Sunday the 16th of October with matches against Glasgow.

The A Team were at home at Western Gailes and ran out winners by 5.5 - 2.5 against their visitors.

Craig Telfer (Turnberry) halved with Greg Telfer (Glasgow)

John Shanks (Irvine) beat Greg Brown (Cathkin Braes) by 5&4

Craig Hamilton (Ballochmyle) beat Alan Waugh (Cowglen) by 8&6

Steven McEwan (Caprington) beat Neil MacRae (Glasgow) by 2&1

Scott Brown (Turnberry) lost to John Mathers (Haggs Castle) by 6&5

Adam Sweeney (Prestwick St Cuthbert) beat Fraser McNeil (Haggs Castle) by 4&3

Graeme Gimson (Prestwick St Cuthbert) beat Louis Fleming (Haggs Castle) by 1 hole

Steven Stamper (Turnberry) lost to Blair Dalgleish (Ralston) by 4&3

In the other matches played on the 16th of October, Dumbartonshire and Lanakrshire fought out a 4 - 4 draw at Hilton Park whilst Renfrewshire beat Stirlingshire by 5-3 at Greenock to with the league title for the fourth successive time.

In the Youths league, the Ayrshire team travelled to Haggs Castle, losing out to their hosts by 6 - 2 in their final fixture of the season.

Ayrshire's hopes received a blow before the start with a late call off leaving no option but to forfeit one point at the outset.

In the other matches played on the 16th of October, Renfrewshire beat Stirlingshire by 6-2 at falkirk Tryst whilst Lanarkshire beat defending champions Dumbartonshire by 5 - 3 at East Kilbride, to win the 2022 league title.

AYRSHIRE GOLF ASSOCIATION A.G.M. - Papers forwarded to member clubs

Papers for the 2022 Ayrshire Golf Association A.G.M. have been sent to the secretaries of member clubs on Sunday the 9th of October, by email.

The Annual General Meeting of The Association takes place on Tuesday the 18th of October 2022 at Loudoun Gowf Club with a 7.30 p.m. start time.

In the event that any club secretary has not received the papers, they should contact the Area Secretary by email at 

ayrshire.golf@btinternet.com 

as soon as possible, and the relevant information can be forwarded again.

WEST OF SCOTLAND INTER COUNTY LEAGUES -One win and one defeat for Ayrshire against Dumbartonshire

For the fourth week in a row in the West of Scotland Inter County leagues, the Ayrshire teams recorded a win and a defeat on Sunday the 9th of October against Dumbartonshire.

The A team travelled to Cardross and recorded a good 4.5 – 3.5 win to maintain their mid table position.

Next week the Ayrshire A team play host to Glasgow at Western Gailes whilst Dumbartonshire host Lanarkshire at Hilton Park and Renfrewshire and Stirlingshire meet in a winner takes all title decider at Greenock.

In the Youths League, Ayrshire entertained Dumbartonshire on Sunday the 9th of October at Prestwick St Cuthbert and the match looked to be on a knife edge at the turn with most ties all square and other with just a single hole lead, but in the event it was the Dumbartonshire team that pulled away in the back nine to record a 6.5 – 1.5 victory over their hosts.

Next week the Ayrshire Youths team travel to meet Glasgow at Haggs Castle whilst Stirlingshire entertain Renfrewshire at Falkirk Tryst, and the winners of the championship will be decided at East Kilbride where Lanarkshire host Dumbartonshire.
