SCOTTISH GOLF CLUB FORUM - Ayrshire meeting scheduled for Troon on 11th March

Scottish Golf are hosting a club forum in Ayrshire on MONDAY 11th MARCH 2019, to which representatives of all member clubs are cordially invited.

The event will take place from 6.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. at the Walker Halls in Troon.

Regional Team Manager Mandy Martin, Women & Girls Manager Carol Harvey and the South West Area Regional Club Development Officer Ann Lang will be in attendance at the meeting.

This is a great opportunity for Ayrshire clubs to engage with the national body, and learn not only what is going on but what can be done for your own club,  with the following topics scheduled to be covered during the evening
  
  • Regional Club Development Officer Support & Services
  • Women & Girls Projects update
  • Buying Group
  • Environment & Sustainability
  • Scottish Golf’s Digital Platform

Although no representation from the developers of the new Digital Platform will be in attendance on the night, Ann Lang is happy to take questionsfrom clubs on the subject by email in advance of the meeting, and she will make every effort to try and provide answers on the evening.

In the next month or so there will be specific forums for clubs to attend and see the new digital platform in operation but Ann considers it important that clubs are provided with answers to any questions they may on the subject at this early stage.

Clubs should forward any Digital Platform specific questions to Ann lang at a.lang@scottishgolf.org

It would also be helpful if clubs intending to be represented on the night could advise Ann by email of their attendance.

member clubs are encouraged to consider attending the forum, which will be a great opportunity to find out more about what the national governing body are able to offer clubs and their members and what work is being done to develop the game throughout the country.

AYRSHIRE SCRATCH LEAGUES - Info circulated for 2019 competition.

Information has been emailed to club representatives this week regarding the forthcoming 2019 Ayrshire Scratch League competitions.

Twent one member clubs have enteed the event this year, with Tam O Shanter and Brunston Castle dropping out last year, but Moorpark re entering the event after a year of absence.

The top three divisions will commence with six competing teams whilst Division 4 will have three teams.

The four divisions are:-

All league section ties must be completed by the 19th of August, to allow for the play off matches to take place before the 14th of September.

All club representatives are requested to submit their fixture dates to the League Administrators for each league by the 1st of April at the latest.

MATT LYGATE - Funeral arrangements

The funeral of Ayrshire Golf Association Honorary Life President Matt Lygate will be held on Friday 8th March 2019 at 11.30 a.m. at the Holmsford Bridge Crematorium, Dreghorn, KA11 4EF.

AYRSHIRE HANDICAP LEAGUES - Format change as 28 teams enter 2019 competition

Following feedback from a number of member clubs, a slightly altered format is being used for the Ayrshire Handicap League this coming season, with two qualifiers going through from each section to a quarter final stage.

With 28 clubs taking part this year, there will be four qualifying sections of seven teams, with the top two going forward into the last eight of the competition.

GARY BRYDEN MEMORIAL SALVER - 19 clubs contest 2019 competition

The scratch club team knockout competition for the Gary Bryden Memorial Salver in 2019 will feature teams from nineteen member clubs, with the draw for the event now published.

defending champions Royal Troon received a bye into round two but face a stiff opening test with an away match at Ballochmyle.

Ties will be played throughout the season with the final scheduled to be held on Finals day at Skelmolrie Golf Club on Sunday 1st September.

PRESIDENT'S PUTTER - 33 clubs entered for 2019 event

With 33 member clubs entered in the 2018 handicap club team competition for the President''s Putter, there is only one first round tie in the draw, which has now been published.


The one first round tie features Abbotsford, who are at home to West Kilbride, with the winners at home to Caprington in the second round.

The ties will be played throughout the season, culminating in the final which will take place on Finals day at Skelmiorlie GC on Sunday 1st September.
